The information technology faculties at the Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Applied Studies enjoy an excellent reputation. The following research institutes of technical and natural sciences are based in Dortmund:

Dortmund has an abundance of highly qualified young talent. There are 270,000 students at 18 institutes of higher education in the larger region, while more than 6.000 students are enrolled in information technology and IT-related courses at Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Applied Studies. The technical, natural and economic science faculties at the Technical University of Dortmund are renowned. The dortmund-project itself also promotes the improvement of IT training. Another institute of higher education, the Dortmund IT Center - International School for Advanced Study in Information Technologies - enables students to qualify with the title "IT Professional". Taking only four semesters to complete, this new course is the fastest of its kind in Germany. In cooperation with the University of Applied Studies, the Dortmund IT Center offers the "IT Professional" qualification and a Bachelor`s Degree in IT.
