Instructions for use

In creating the dortmund-project website, we have attached importance to providing all visitors with optimal access to all information in our Internet presentation as far as possible.

At the same time, however, the diverse illustration opportunities offered by graphics and animation should not be sacrificed.

For this reason the website is now available in two identical versions as regards content, differing only in the type of display. In the following you will find information on the two versions and the technology on which they are based.

Graphic version and text version

The graphic version additionally supports the statements made in the text and tables by means of pictorial material, graphics and animation. This version can be viewed with the commonly available graphic browsers. The viewer can change to the “text version”, which has the identical content, from every page of the graphic version via a link.

This is how to get to the text version

All functions of the website, in particular navigation, use of forms and other services, are fully available in the text version. Information that is displayed in the graphic version in the form of animation or the like is available here in text form. This text version is especially suited for users of screen readers and comparable technology.

However, it is also suitable for quick surfing in the case of a slow Internet connection, for example via laptop or mobile phone. The users of such mobile Internet accesses do not have to do without pictures since commented links are inserted in the text version instead of the pictures. The links open a new window in which the selected picture is displayed.

Technical production

Both versions are based on the same XHTML code. The differing display is achieved by means of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). In this way identical contents can be displayed in a different manner. This makes it possible to utilize such presentation technologies as Flash without excluding individual user groups of information or services.
